It is a two-year four-semester program. Graduates of the program have successfully been employed in a variety of nursing positions and many transfer into upper degree nursing programs. The Nursing Assistant Program at Saddleback College was established to empower students to gain the skills and knowledge of providing basic patient care as a member of the healthcare team.

The Nursing Assistant Program prepares students for employment as a Certified Nursing Assistant CNA in a variety of health care settings ranging from acute care hospitals to skilled nursing facilities.

This program offers training through two 4-week courses consisting of in person didactic instruction and clinical rotations.

Successful completion of both the didactic course and the clinical rotation course is required to finish this program. Health Sciences Associate Degree The Health Sciences Associate Degree program is designed to provide students the opportunity to achieve an associate degree in health sciences which may include courses required for preparation for transfer to a CSU or for employment in areas such as emergency medical technician, medical assistant, medical insurance billing and coding, registered nurse, and paramedic.

Previously, submitted transcripts are kept on file and do not need to be resubmitted, unless additional RELEVANT nursing coursework has been completed and you need to update.

Applications are accepted twice a year, typically in February for fall entry and August for spring entry. There is no limit to the amount of times you can apply.

We do not have a waiting list for admission. Students with the highest points based off the Multi-Criteria for Enrollment will be invited into the program. The point cut off varies each application period.
